Welcome to the newly formed Youth activist network for the south East Region.
We are feeling quite confident with some of the ideas and events planned for the near future, as we start to build links with more youth in our area whilst promoting the importance of trade union values, ideas and education amongst all workers with a particular emphasis on younger members of our union especially whilst campaigning for the alternative to unfair discussing cuts and injustice. In times of austerity, particularly with Cameron's recent classic divide and rule comments and attacks on multiculturalism, we must also not be complacent when it comes to fascist/ racist parties and organisations in our workplaces and communities We therefore hope that this can be a very productive time for our Committee to go forward.
Here are our current and future plans for going forward:
- I am currently working on a letter/poster/email which will go out to all the youth members in the region in the next month;
- Region are funding a Love Music HateRacism gig which we are working on and hope to hold in Brighton in the summer;
- More KTPP campaigning and events;
- Recruitment of young members to help with Workers Beer Company at the Summer festivals;
- Getting into workplaces and branches to do a CWU Youth presentation to Members;
- Organising Mass Mobilisation on day of action on June 30th.;
- Setting up regular Youth Committee meetings in the region.
- Being involved in local Anti-cuts groups and trades councils
