MPs stand up for agency rights with new Early Day Motion
Politicians are backing the CWU's 'Close the Loopholes' campaign with Early Day Motion (EDM) 959. More than 40 MPs have signed the motion which was tabled towards the end of January by Labour MP Jim McGovern, and which: "calls for the Government to work towards the closure of loopholes that allow the exploitation of agency workers."
CWU general secretary Billy Hayes welcomed the EDM saying: "Thousands of agency workers are losing out on equal pay because of this legal loophole which effectively signs away their rights. It's great to get political recognition of this problem and support for our campaign to end the exploitation of agency workers who should have achieved equal pay since the introduction of new agency regulations. We'd like to see many more MPs signing this EDM and helping to ensure agency workers receive the pay they're entitled to."Source: CWU
