Minimum wage - Government crackdown underway

HM Revenue and Customs has launched a targetted enforcement excercise to crackdown on the misuse of interns, work experience and unpaid work.

The initial focus has been on the fashion industry, film production and television advertising, which is quite canny, since all these sectors are highly profitable, but use loads of unpaid workers.

However, the net is being cast very widely, and HM Revenue and Customs have promised to prioritise all complaints from interns for the next few months. They have also instructed the Pay and Work Rights Helpline to do the same.

If you want to claim the minimum wage, phone the helpline on 0800 917 2368 or see the website: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Dl1/Directories/DG_177940 . Please pass this message on to anybody else who you think might benefit from seeing it.
