Maritime mayhem in Doncaster

No prizes for North East CWU members at Saturday's Dragon Boat Festival, but plenty of fun on Doncaster's Lakeside for both our younger members and our more experienced seafarers.

CWU regional secretary Paul Clays reports that the union entered both an under-30s crew and a "30-somethings plus" team this year, in what has become an annual fun event in the South Yorkshire city.

Organised by the local Rotary Club - in partnership with Doncaster Tourism - the festival invites teams from all across the region to paddle a 30-foot long boat, complete with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course.
