Lively march at Tolpuddle for CWU
CWU south west region secretary, Kevin Beazer, reported a "determined and united mood" among the thousands of trade unionists attending Tolpuddle's 2010 festival.
"After such a bad general election result, some people had anticipated a rather downbeat, even gloomy event this year, but they couldn't have been more wrong," said Kevin.
"I've been coming along for several years now and this was by far the liveliest I've been to, with a real mood of determination to fight the new Liberal Conservative Government's attacks."
As usual, the south west CWU region brought along a large contingent to this annual commemoration of the UK labour movement's early pioneers - the festival marks the brutal treatment of six 19th-century agricultural workers who were transported to Australia for starting a trade union.
