Labour Market Report - Young People

Overall the youth unemployment rate fell by 0.6% in the quarter to 21.9%. However youth long term unemployment rose. The number of 18-24 year olds on the claimant count for over 12 months rose by 24,000 over the quarter. Over the past two years the number of long term unemployed young people has risen from 769,000 to 875,000.
