CWU supports black history month

The CWU has long supported Black History Month which runs throughout October and is packed with plays, talks, film, exhibitions and book readings. The CWU's striking visual exhibition heralds the lives of individuals prominent in black history such as Nelson Mandela, President Barack Obama, Paul Robeson and Toussaint L'Ouverture, amongst many others.

The CWU national equality officer, Linda Roy commented: "The CWU is very proud to increase awareness of black history. No one can deny the huge role that black people have undoubtedly played when we look back in history. Our own exhibition articulates various diverse backgrounds of people, all of whom have contributed greatly in their own special ways".

The exhibition, in the form of portable pull-up stands, is available for free hire with a discretionary donation to the CWU's chosen charity African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT).

Contact the CWU Equality Department on 0208 971 7238 or dgittens@cwu.org for more information or visit Black History Month to see how you can get involved.
