CWU at UNI Europa
This week a strong CWU delegation attended the 3rd UNI Europa congress in Toulouse, France. Led by general secretary, Billy Hayes, the congress dealt with a range of issues at the forefront of which was the economic crisis.
An emergency motion calling for the scrapping of the Euro plus pact, for Greece to receive support for re-launching their own economy and for all EU member states to invest in their own welfare state was carried by congress. The motion also called for regulators to ensure banks were neither too big to fail nor too big to be saved and committed UNI Europa and affiliated unions to find solutions to a way out of the economic crisis.
