Appeal for postman riot victim

CWU leaders are backing calls from London members to help a postman (pictured with Billy Hayes) who was burned out of his home during the disturbances in the area earlier this month.

The appeal was launched last week with a cheque for £1,000 from union members in the capital, while staff employed at CWU HQ in Wimbledon donated £250 from their own GMB union branch funds.

Just two weeks ago, Croydon delivery worker Garry Ezekiel watched from the window of his flat above a shop in London Road, as rioters smashed glass and attacked parked cars in the street outside.
