'Sackers' charter' must be fought!
The CWU has pledged to fight tooth and nail against a full-scale Government assault on workers' employment, redundancy and workplace discrimination rights that is intended to make easier and cheaper for employers to sack workers.
Committing the union to launch a high profile campaign against a raft of proposed reductions in employment rights - including an increase in the qualifying period for access to employment tribunals from one to two years - delegates at CWU General Conference unanimously rejected the view that a so-called "flexible" approach to employment rights will lead to economic growth and prosperity.
