National Youth Education Event

THE MISSION

The National Youth Education Event is the coming together of young activists over the course of a weekend to meet colleagues old and new, learn new skills, share their experiences and have a positive impact in the way that the union communicates and interacts with its young members.

THE NEXT STEPS

The weekend will give participants the enthusiasm, confidence and tools to go back to their branches and deal with the ever increasing pressures on their union time.

STAYING INVOLVED

The weekend will enable participants to join a growing community that is CWU Youth. They will leave the event knowing that they have support not only from their branches, regions and head office, but also a large national network that is there to help and advise should situations arise that require it.

KEEP COMING BACK

The success of the weekend has seen young activists return year after year and they are very welcome. It is not just a one-time only event - keep coming back. There is always something new to learn, someone new to meet and 12 months of experiences to relay back to colleagues.

2010 Event - Newcastle

The 2010 event will be taking place in Newcastle at the Jurys Inn hotel over the weekend of 15-17 October.

If after reading up on this event and you are interested in attending then fill in the application form and ask your branch to sanction your attendance. Alternatively email it to Jo at youth@cwu.org and she will process your application.

Please note that you must be a member of the union and you must have the agreement of your branch as they pay for your attendance.

If you would like to attend please download the 2010 NYEE Application Form, fill it in and send to your branch. You will then receive confirmation that a place has been reserved for you. If you don't get this confirmation please email youth@cwu.org.

Who pays for you to attend?

Each year branches are informed of the cost of sending someone to the event. This figure includes:

* 2 night's accommodation
* Breakfast, lunch & dinner
* Plus all the sessions in between!

Branches will also meet the cost of any travel & subsistence involved

In 2009 the event took place over the weekend of 16-18 October at the Barcelo Angel Hotel in Cardiff.
