Youth in Your Region

There are 10 Regions of the CWU, each Region has a Regional Youth Committee (RYC). Regional Youth Committees now bring together a wealth of experience and we would encourage all young members to get involved. For Branches looking to encourage and develop Youth Officers and young members, RYC's provide an excellent conduit.

We encourage all Regional Youth Committees to use this document to develop their own strategy for communicating with Young members. This document can be downloaded and amended to suit the needs of your Region.Much of the reasoning is sound and can be easily reworked where required.

Background

CWU believes that motion 11 to Youth Conference 2009, stands as an achievable aim and will also serve to realise tangible improvements in communicating with Young Members. And therefore through improved communication can deliver an engaged section of the membership that will not only benefit the Regional Youth Committees but contribute to targeted improved communications for Regions as a whole.

This conference accepts that a full utilisation of modern communication tools is vital to the CWU successfully engaging with our young members and getting them involved with the union.

To that end the YAC & each Regional Youth Committee is instructed prior to next year's Youth Conference to implement a SMS text messaging service, this facility will then act as a two-way communications tool between the CWU Representational Structure and our young members & activists.
